Workers' Rights

are essential to pull families out of poverty, combat gender and racial inequality, and strengthen the economy.

Increase Minimum Wage

I will support efforts to increase the state minimum wage and fight to make sure that all South Carolinians receive livable wages.

--

Impact:

  • Improve affordability, reduce poverty
  • Grow local economy
  • Higher productivity
  • Reduce dependence on public assistance programs, which will hold corporations accountable for workers' wages instead of taxpayers

Collective Bargaining for Public Workers

Us workers across Cherokee and Spartanburg are coming together to fight for higher wages, health and safety, and rights and power on the job.

--

Impact:

  • Set industry standards that encourage private sector adoption
  • Improve benefits (health, pensions) and ensure paid sick leave
  • Workers gain input into their workplace conditions and safety protocols, decreasing turnover
  • Reduce racial and gender wage gaps, benefiting low-wage workers significantly
  • Boost productivity while attracting and maintaning workers

Childcare Support

I will support policies that enable parents to work, pursue education, or train, directly increasing workforce participation and boosting the economy by preventing billions in lost productivity.

--

Impact:

  • Fully fund SC Child Care Scholarship Program
  • Expand First Steps 4k prioritizing underserved, rural counties and areas with high waiting lists
  • Implement tax credits for businesses that invest in child care facilities or provide tuition assistance (ex. Senate Bill 47)
  • Strengthen SC Child Care startup grants to help new providers launch or existing centers expand to serve more families
  • Bring school vouchers back to low-income families and for public education
